Art Student Masturbates in Class for Final Project

So, a friend of mine is working on his bachelors of fine arts at Chico State. He told me about another student, who, for his final project in a sculpture class yesterday did the following: covered all the windows in the classroom with paper, cut small peepholes into the paper and told the entire class to go outside and look in through the windows to see his final project. The class left the room and assembled outside, looked through the windows and saw this student hanging upside down (by gravity boots), naked and MASTURBATING. This was his final project. What bearing it has on the art of sculpture, I have no idea.

That reminds me of that famous "Seedbed" by Vito Acconci... although that was a phenomenon that took place almost entirely in the mind of the viewer, because they couldn't actually see him, only hear him. That's pretty crazy, though. I'd be interested to hear what his meaning/reasoning was behind that.

i think if he warned people that his thesis was masturbation, then people would have the choice to watch or not watch before he started. personally, i like to watch. and i'll bet alot of you do too, but yr just ashamed to admit it. what the heck is wrong with it anyway? (under my conditions, and even if there weren't conditions, you could just walk away once you realized what was going on, you know.)you could just walk away...
