Advise Needed

How should I deal with a couple I am good friends with who are divorcing?

The wife wants me to hate the husband and his new girlfriend.

It's hard to give advice, without more details. I would say try not to take sides, if you value both friendships. Although it could be difficult if one or the other dislikes the fact that you are still friends with the other. I would probably just step aside for awhile to let them work out differences without me involved, just because I don't need more drama in my life. I have enough already (which is why certain family members are now excluded from my world) And it can be tough to put that distance between yourself and others, but if it's full of negativity and dragging you down, let it go and hopfully things will work out on their own. If your friendships are strong, there shouldn't be any reason it won't survive...

Tell her you care about her, and hope for things to go well for her but will not take sides. If you lose her friendship over this, que sera, sera. You don't need friends like that.

I never said I wanted you to hate them. This is just getting all too ridiculus for me.

Never discuss X's with X's; talk about literature, music the arts. Widen your circle of friends. As you move on true friends will follow.
