I added you, although I haven't updated my status on there in a while, although been doing more technical, job-related reading the last couple months.

Okay, cool, you're Chris. Damn, that's a lot of books. Much to my shame I haven't read any Douglas Adams, Sarah Vowell, Chuck Palahniuk or Nick Hornby, but I have at least one book by each of these authors somewhere in my stacks. Oh, and I have a Michael Chabon around here somewhere, too.....ah here it is, The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay.

Well hello there Andrea, all the way over there in Germany! Looks like you have some books in common with my boyfriend. He has quite a few Andrew Vachss books around here. If I pick one up now and start reading it my boyfriend will say I'm only reading it because I saw it on your book shelves! You know, a prophet is never honored in his own home. ;)

it's a Deutsch thang. You wouldn't understand.

:)

Yay Sarah! Thank you. A friend of mine has been trying to get me to read that Cunt book for a few years now....hasn't happened yet. I love Alison Bechdel, haven't read her Family Tragicomic yet. Dang, you've read some heavy stuff. I think I tried Chaucer once and I couldn't get past the first four pages. I kept reading the same first four pages over and over again. It was like reading a book in a foreign language. Maybe I was too young for it. Your shelves are truly impressive. It's like getting a huge glimpse of your soul. I look forward reading more there.

funny - i'm on there but haven't written about any of the last 20 books or so i've read. dang!

[identity profile] createdestiny.livejournal.com 2008-10-09 03:20 am (UTC)(link)
You'll get around too it. And I look forward to when you do because I want to see all these books you've been reading!

I added you :)

Sweet! You're Kammy! It's weird to learn my lj peep's real names. I've always meant to get around to reading The Left Hand of Darkness but it's been escaping me for about 20 years! Can't wait to read your review.

[identity profile] the-mongrel.livejournal.com 2008-10-09 04:03 am (UTC)(link)
You're the first Dorothea I've ever known. That's a cool and unusual name.

Funny you should say that about The Left Hand of Darkness 'cause the same thing is true for me, it's one of those books I've always been meaning to get to.

You're reading Telegraph!?!? I love Kaya Oakes! She came and gave a talk to a creative writing class I took a couple of years ago. I even took her photo and started to write up an lj post about it but I never got around to finishing it. My favorite piece in Telegraph has to be "Olympia." I never think to post the poetry books I've read.

Jesus, that's a lot of books. You only gave Prodigal Summer two stars! Blasphemy! Looks like somebody has read just about everything Haven Kimmel has ever written. I love her too, but have only read Zippy. And I see you've posted one of Rebecca Cook's chapbooks. I love her work. That's probably where I picked you up? Over at her lj.

Thanks for the add, I love looking at your shelves...I need to get my hands on some Kitchen Witch. ;) Seeing your shelves makes me realize there's a lot of titles that I have not posted.

P.S. I went back through my lj and found the rough draft of the Kaya Oakes post. It's a shame I never got around to finishing it. I made it public just now so you could check it out if you're interested. She's also on goodreads.

i am so exicted you likes my goodreads page--really, i've neglected it of late, but will remedy that soonish--isn't it the BEST Place EVER for getting to-read lists?! isn't it the best freaking site in the world for bibliophiles?! i really like how so many poets/small presses are using it. *giddy* and, yes, i think KO is the K.O.! i think my fave is "always coming second"-- just something about those bad boys, those 2ndary girls, i guess. yes, you should contact theresa boyar-- and yes, on the rebecca--we went to school together. see, kingsolver just bores me, i can't help it. i mean i keep trying: gimme an A for effort. now see, haven kimmel is a GODDESS: she has a new one out too. i met her in asheville, years ago now and even have signed copies *squeeee* and, hey, there's a certain OTHER CHAPBOOK you might need to pick up *hint-hint*
oh, and ditto the above: i am completely in LOVE with your real name createD! XoX
