I'm taking Monday off from work so I can buy tickets for myself and a couple of friends. I can pick you up a ticket if you'd like. I'm planning on buying premium tkts. Let me know....
Do you want me to get you a $35 tkt or a $25 tkt.? And how many do you want?
How about we set up a meeting place to exchange tkts and money? I'll bring my friend dietcokehed just in case you're a psycho killer. (One of my favorite songs!)
I don't know about place, but day and time can't be until Sunday after 1pm if I'm involved... However, if you want to take my momma with you she'd probably go :)
"My Backwards Life" Tour 2004 featuring the Tosca Strings
Laxson Auditorium, 7:30 p.m.
Rock Ôn Roll Hall of Famer and Talking Heads front man David Byrne is known for his eclectic mix of music, film and performance art. Byrne's newly released album - Grown Backwards,
includes a mix of original songs, a cover of Lambchop's "The Man Who Loved Beer" and two operatic arias (one from La Traviata and one from Pearl Fishers). Always the iconoclast, he is joined by the Texas-based chamber group The Tosca Strings, in a special performance of "My Backwards Life Tour." Opening for David Byrne will be solo electric piano and guitar artist Lisa Germano.
Ok, I'm feeling better about this concert. When I first read the description up there I was sorta thinking, uh, opera? I was still gonna go, but...David Byrne singing opera? Guess that's what I get for saying the Modest Mouse concert was too loud, huh?
But, I did a little google search and found this review of a recent show and it sounds pretty good. Better than just David Byrne singing some opera.
He's got white hair in that picture. That freaks me out, for some reason. I'm watching Stop Making Sense again (I went and bought the cd today so I can listen to it at work) and I guess some stupid part of my brain was thinking that I was gonna see the David Byrne I'm watching on my tv.
The only sign of aging David has is that white head of hair of his. And yes, Stop Making Sense is a cinematic masterpiece. I love the performance of Crosseyed and Painless in there. The opera singing is a little strange in his recent concert, not to say it wasn't interesting and/or awesome, but 90% of the time the audience could dance to the music. The strings never seemed out of place.
