My Memorial Day Weekend in Pictures (mostly)

My friend C.C. came for the weekend with her son "Binkie."

Chico poet Lew Gardner

High water levels in the creek prevented us from tubing.

The "Birdman" visiting from Buffalo

A little gopher wanted to say Hello!

For people who don't like tonic water with their Gin.

The Birdman? Like Matt Dillon in "Beautiful Girls"?

The great part about gatorade drinking is that it goes straight to the blood...just like it should....

I thought the Gin and the Gatorade was a great combo: dehyration and re-hydration with every swig.

I never knew groundhogs had such big teeth!

Great pics. THANKS.

Great minds think alike.

I'm not certain it's a groundhog. A mole, maybe?

I love your user icon!

[identity profile] saladbar.livejournal.com 2005-05-31 02:58 am (UTC)(link)
Hell, you could have told me it is a mole and I'd believe you. I don't know my small mammals.. ;)

I just can't believe you got a pic of him. They pop in and out of those holes so fast.

it's a gopher. my brothers and i caught one when i was eight so that woulda made them younger and even more stupid than me. we played with him for a day or two and then let him go. we were so imaginative we called him 'chopper'. i mean really...

That groundhog has some awesome beaver teeth!

Great pictures.

Those are great photos! I especially love the farmers market one. It's so great.

Oh oh oh..all of these are good. I cannot believe your luck with the gopher shot.

[identity profile] createdestiny.livejournal.com 2005-05-31 04:57 am (UTC)(link)
My friend the Birdman took that shot. I was amazed myself.

Eeeeeee! Little gopher! I like the man in the eccentric hat, as well.

Gophers are much smaller than beavers. Gophers live in holes in the ground and beavers live in condos they build in water.

Google became a verb years ago.

Nice pics. The shot of Lew Gardner made me think of Ritzo and what he would look like had he lived to be in his seventies. I particulary like the shot: "Wood on Centerville Road".

[identity profile] nameleswanderer.livejournal.com 2005-06-02 01:42 am (UTC)(link)
Since there isn't a shadow, does that mean a longer summer? The gopher does look like my sister though.

I nominate "Wood on Centerville Road" as second best picture.

[identity profile] createdestiny.livejournal.com 2005-06-02 02:34 am (UTC)(link)
Second best? Who won first?

[identity profile] nameleswanderer.livejournal.com 2005-06-02 02:50 pm (UTC)(link)
My sister, I mean the gopher of course!

[identity profile] tobepartofit.livejournal.com 2005-06-04 01:12 pm (UTC)(link)
"Wood on Centerville Road" is my favorite. Gives me a strong hint of childhood – I'm not sure why.

"Bidwell Park" pic: is the formation of a peace sign deliberate or coincidental? Either way, it's lovely.

[identity profile] dietcokehed.livejournal.com 2005-06-04 05:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah I noticed that too, but not right away. I was admiring it again and blurred my eyes, and I was like "Hey! That's a peace sign!"
