One of my cats took off and hasn't been seen for 3 days now. He's never been gone this long and I'm pretty upset about it. I hope I'm just over-reacting as usual.
My mother has a cat phobia so we could never have cats when I was a kid. When I moved out of the house I knew I wanted a kitty. My roomie way back then was a serious stoner. His girlfriend lived with 2 other neo-hippie/stoner chicks and they had a cat who had kittens.
The type of cat I had always wanted was a grey tabby. A male. One of the kittens was a little boy cat, grey tabby. He had an extra toe on his two front paws. Awesome, a mutant kitty. They gave him to me and I named him Harley, cause I always wanted a Harley.
For the first year of his life he never went outside. He had a very adventurous life inside though. My roomie and his buddies liked to get the kitten stoned. They'd put him in a globe thingie (anybody remember those Coors party balls from back then? An empty one of those. They were great cat toys) and then blow smoke into the globe. The cat loved nachos too, for some reason. I think he had a case of the perma-munchies or something, at least when it came to nachos.
Eventually though I had to move. I moved several times. I got a dog (Jake) and Harley and he got along well. At one point I ended up having to live in my van. That was no problem with the dog, but the cat didn't go for it. I left him at my sister's place and he promptly dissapeared. I went to the local animal shelter and filled out a missing cat report and left it at that. Months later I got a call from the animal shelter saying that they think they found my cat. I had already written him off, but I went to the address they gave me. It was about 2 blocks from my sister's place. The people said the cat was in the back yard. He lived under their house and spent most of his time chilling out on top of their air conditioner. I went back to look and there was my Harley, fat and healthy. He saw me and meowed, jumped down and was ready to go.
Some other time I'll tell you the story of how he came home one morning chewed up real bad and I thought he was gonna die, but for now I'll just say, don't give up hope. There is a reason why they say cats have 9 lives. I'm sure Tofu is fine. He's out doing cat things someplace.
