Why Can't I Get Wired Like Normal People?

Yesterday at work a co-worker gave me an energy drink called "Full Throttle." That was a mistake. I felt sort-of good for a while, then nauseated, then shaky, then irritable, then all out mentally ill.

I couldn't come down off this stuff for the life of me. I spent most of last night tossing and turning in bed, feeling strange and ill.

I'm the same way with those kind of drinks. I find it kind of odd though because I'm a coffee drinker, so you'd think I would have a bit of a resistance to stuff like that. Instead I always feel shakey and disconnected. Sobe No Fear is the only one I can handle and then I have to drink lots of water with it or I still feel off.

Yeah, I had the Sobe No Fear thing once and it was fine. But this other one...I'm still recovering. Maybe some Gatorade will help.

Good idea!

You're not alone

One morning I was super groggy. I stopped on the way to the hospital and grabbed one of those things so I could be sharp because I had to help put in a pacemaker (which can take 2-3 hours) at 6 am. I was sweaty, jittery and nauseated for most of the day. Bleh. I drank a lot of water to try and flush it out.

What kind was it? Was it the Full Throttle one?

I drink Monster energy drinks sometimes when I have to work on little sleep and I feel just fine during and afterwards.

Yeah, but you're normal.

Blargh, that sounds awful. What's in that stuff, it cn't be just caffeine? Hope ya feel better :-)

Good question. I just googled it.

Full Throttle Energy Drink

Ingredients: carbonated water, high fructose corn syrup and/or sucrose, citric acid, taurine, natural and artificial flavors, sodium citrate, sodium benzoate (to protect taste), ginseng extract, caffeine, carnitine fumarate, maltodextrin, niacinamide (vitamin B3), yellow 5, pyridoxine hydrochloride (vitamin B6), guarana extract, cyanocobalamin (vitamin B12).

Hmm most of those look familiar except for taurine, carnitine fumarate, and guarana extract.

It's the stuff they don't mention on the label that you gotta worry about.

You don't really believe they put everything on there, do ya?

But the question we all want to know is did the drink make you feel any different than usual?

[identity profile] createdestiny.livejournal.com 2005-03-26 09:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, it intensified all my usual feeings. (Gah!)
