The Dead Milkmen, Violent Femmes and They Might Be Giants? I'm jealous!

I can't even remember half the shows I've seen.

Dude, you must try to compile a list before your memories are completely lost!

They Might Be Giants was my very first concert, and probably the most fun I've ever had for the price of a ticket. :)

oh sure. remind me of how much i suck. *wink*

I've been to only a small handful of shows. Embarrasingly small:

Whitney Houston
Kenny G
George Strait
The Judds
Lee Greenwood
The Rolling Stones
Metallica
Candlebox (twice)
Fight
L7

I'm thinking there might be one or two more, but it's late and my brain isn't processing.

And I am an avid music lover. AVID. I'd give just about anything to see Ani DiFranco. When we were living in Italy she played at a local bar and I missed it b/c I was with a newborn. Ho hum. Living there for 4 years didn't allow for many concert going opportunities and then we moved from there to West Texas BFE and once again, concerts do not come our way. Well, unless it's Los Lonely Boys (only b/c they're from here). Hmph. That's it. I'm making it goal to hit at least one concert this year, either in San Antonio or Austin. THAT'S IT!!!

I'm sure you'll get plenty more chances to see Ani DiFranco. She tours quite a bit.

Where'd you see L7?

I saw them in Florida when they played at a local beach club many moons ago (I believe in '96)

Pssh. All those bands are sellouts (except for the Scorpions). I only see bands that less than 6 people (not including the band members or their immediate family) have ever heard of. That's the only way to stay on the cutting edge of coolness.

I'd tell you the names of some of them but then they would be ruined by their success.

Sorry.

Gosh...not in chronoligical order but by order in which I remember them:

The Rolling Stones
Pixies/ The Thrills
The Who
Spin Doctors
Simply Red (twice)
Tom Jones
Huey Lewis and The News
Tom Petty
U2
Roxy Music
Spice Girls (free ticket)
Aja Vu (local cover band of Steely Dan)
Watchtower
Middle-Life Crisis
Cake

In the next six weeks I will see:
Dogs Die In Hot Cars
Stereophonics
Snow Patrol
The Futureheads

I'm kind-or ashamed to admit this but I've never heard Roxy music. Their name pops up everywhere and I keep telling myself I need to check them out and see what's going on, but I never get around to it.

Ok, the first shows are embarrassing to admit...but I was thirteen, ok! And I'll do my best to remember them all :)
Warrant, Motley Crue w/ Faster Pussycat, Poison w/ Warrant, Skid Row w/ Pantera, Warrant again, Van Halen, Guns 'n' Roses, Def Leppard, Beastie Boys, Queensryche, Peter Murphy, Lolapalooza '94 (Smashing Pumpkins, Beasties, Green Day, and some other people) Everclear, Green Day, Red Hot Chili Peppers 4x?, No Doubt, Cake, Filter, Kamp KOME (311, No Doubt, Goldfinger) Tibetan Freedom Concert '96 (Beasties, Rage Against the Machine, Fugees, Red Hot Chili Peppers and a lot more that I don't remember right now) 311 at least 16x, Goldfinger many times, I've lost count, Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Cherry Popping Daddies, Bumpin' Uglies, Rancid, Bloodhound Gang, Social Distortion, The Offspring 2x, Sugar Ray, Incubus 3x, Janes Addiction at least 4x, but not in their heyday, unfortunately, just relapses, The Goo Goo Dolls 3x, Sebastian Bach solo!, oh yeah, and Poison again later in life, Depeche Mode, Prince, Madonna.

Hmm, I'm drawing some blanks here, for some reason. I've been to a lot of those festival-type shows, Lolapalooza, Warped Tour, Radio Shows, etc., where there are like 10+ bands playing, so I'm not gonna list all those either. I feel like there's something really obvious and important missing...

Ok, it was bugging me, so I went through 311's Tour History and listed the shows I know for sure I've seen. There may be others that I'm forgetting... Kamp KOME at Shoreline '96, Warfield SF Dec.'96 2x, Sac. w/ Sugar Ray '97, House of Blues Hollywood '97, Sac. 11/01/97, KWOD Show Arco '99, Cow Palace w/ RHCP '99, Drunken Fresno State '00, Semi-Drunken Berkeley '00, Shoreline '01, Fresno w/ Lindsey '02, Portland w/ Amy '02, Warfield w/ Patrick '03, Fresno w/ Tamara '03, Berkeley w/ Patrick '04.

Goldfinger shows that I can think of - Kamp KOME, Weird Toad Town in the hills of Sonora Co. during El Nino, Sac. El Dorado 2x, The Brickworks Chico, Tahoe Snow Show, Warfield w/ Sugar Ray, San Bernardino, Reno, and I know there are more, but I have to get Bug's help :)

Wow! I knew your list would be great. I'm especailly jealous of the Beastie Boys show, Madonna, Rage Against the Machine, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Social Distortion and Depeche Mode.

Ha-ha! I can't believe all the hair metal bands you've seen!

I saw Jane's Addiction in like 1990 or 1991 I believe. I don't know if that is considered "the day" or not.

Shows I've seen: The Howdy Doody show, the Ed Sullivan Show, some chick showing her boobs to a side walk preacher at the Chicago Jazz Fest several years ago and one Grateful Dead show. There were several shows in the sixties but I don't remember what they were. I too know who the DBs are, the "Dubious Brothers".

pretty sweet list. here's all the bands i've seen (in chronological order, and i also have a more detailed version saved as a Word file!)

Mid Carson July and Puritan (plus other bands)

My Dad is Dead (with Licorice, Doug Gillard and Simoom)

The Queers (with BucK)

Cheap Trick

Mike Watt (Pair of Pliers tour)

Bad Brains

Joan Jett

The Honor Systen

Atom and His Package (with AM/FM, which is also the name of a trivia board game invented by the father of [livejournal.com profile] waxpumpkin)

a fake Minor Threat band, a fake Bad Brains band and a fake Nation of Ulysses band ("tribute" bands made up of member of Cleveland area groups like the Chargers Street Gang and Proletarian Art Threat)

Unwed Sailor

The Jack Schantz Unit (a large band doing a program of Zappa music at Cleveland's Tri-C Jazz Fest two years ago)

Drowning Poet ([livejournal.com profile] foopixie was the singer in this band)

Project/Object

Paint it Black / Strike Anywhere

Pedro the Lion / John Vanderslice

The Motorcycle Prom Dates (including [livejournal.com profile] lefthandblack) with several other bands including the Symptoms, FKS and Organz (both of whom are terrible)

Eek-A-Mouse (except for hanging out with idy, wish i'd stayed home)

Project/Object (second time)

The Low Budgets (free show with a bunch of crappy bands)

The Dead Fucking Milkmen

7 Seconds (with, i think, Voice in the Wire)

Project/Object (third time)

Joan Jett!! Mike Watt?! I'm extremely jealous now.

And "The Dead Fucking Milkmen" is that for real? The fucking part, I mean.

From: [identity profile] derekfz.livejournal.com
of course, Joan Jett was at a fucking rib burn-off in Canton. which is sad. but she was great.

in a couple of freaky coincidences, while i didn't know either of them at the time, i later found out that [livejournal.com profile] waxpumpkin and myself attended the same queers show, and that [livejournal.com profile] shunthepunman was at the mike watt show i attended.

Watt wasn't touring an album on that tour, so he just went out to play a bunch of covers along with Minutemen and fIREHOSE songs and a couple from the "Ball-Hog" album. one of the best shows i've been to.

the Dead Milkmen weren't actually fucking. they were just fucking rocking. when did you see them? i saw the first of the two dave blood memorial shows in philly last november, i wasn't old enough (or aware of them) to have seen them when they were around.

You've forgotten the plethora of semi-talented locals in Ft.Wayne at Freiman Square on Sunday nights! Do you even remember the name of one of those bands?

Here's my short and pathetic list:

The Greatful Dead
KD Lang
REO Speedwagon
Elton John

I'm thinking of taking Bobby to see Elmopalooza if it ever gets around here again. Hee!

Ar fisrt I thought you were saying that The Grateful Dead, KD Lang and Elton John all played at Freiman Square.

I'm pretty sure REO Speedwagon did play at Frieman Square at some point.

Your list makes my few concerts seem painfully small..

I would have killed to see the Grateful Dead live before Jerry died.

I've only seen Bob Dylan, Jason Mraz, Aerosmith, and Jewel...
